Novarra Strengthens Leadership with Mobile Data
Stalwart Chuck Parrish

Strong Consumer Uptake and Operator Momentum Spurs Growth

Chicago
, USA (September 13, 2006) - Novarra, the leader in next-generation internet solutions for mobile, today announced that Charles (Chuck) Parrish, co-founder and former executive vice president of Phone.com (now Openwave), has recently joined its board of directors. Gearing for growth, Novarra is building upon successes in 2006, including market adoption of Version 5.0 and operator deployments generating significant new data ARPU and consumer uptake on today’s mass-market handsets. Consumers access any Web site with a full, rich experience while operators benefit from a platform for internet-based services and premium portals.

With over 20 years in the mobile industry, Chuck is widely recognized as the co-founder and chairman of the forum that authored the Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) standards, which launched mobile data content. Chuck brings valuable insights from his tenure at Openwave Systems, which created the first-generation mobile internet, and quickly became an established provider of operator solutions.

Mobile internet is moving into a new era and Parrish has recognized that Novarra is well-positioned to lead in this transformation. “Novarra’s innovative Web technology and carrier-grade scalable platform enables operators to deploy quickly and seamlessly with current WAP infrastructure” comments Parrish.  “With an open-standards strategy at its core, Novarra addresses fragmentation and enables operators to easily expand portal offerings and rapidly increase data revenue.”

“We are pleased that Chuck has joined us. His experience with mobile data platforms and bringing new operator services to market is going to be invaluable as we grow,” states Jayanthi Rangarajan, CEO & President of Novarra. “Consumer data gathered over 18 months on both 2.5G and 3G networks, has shown dramatic acceptance and usage of our fully integrated internet and portal offerings” comments Rangarajan. Novarra is growing rapidly to serve additional geographies and provide platform advancements for new services.

Consumer usage patterns indicate a twelve month average of 390 page views per month and steady increase in discrete accesses per month. Mirroring the PC, mobile users access popular sites like search and Web e-mail, however more than 80% of the traffic is in the “long tail of the internet”, which is broad, and also personally or geographically relevant. Furthermore, average data usage triples over a six month interval, and exhibits continuously declining churn. Novarra’s solution, deployed and billed for by operators, is popular with consumers on both Java and BREW handsets, due to its highly intuitive user experience and access speed.
