Novarra Releases Version 5.0 of nWebTM Internet Platform for Mobile

Operators Selecting v5.0 for Off-Portal Access with Java & BREW

Chicago, USA (June 6, 2006) - Novarra, the provider of next-generation high performance Internet platforms for mobile, announced commercial availability of nWeb platform Version 5.0.  New features include two-click access to popular Web transactions, OTA upgradeable user personalization and view options, core capacity and acceleration enhancements, and up to forty percent improvement in speed for popular mobile use cases. nWeb v5.0 is meeting the needs of operators evaluating and deploying new 3G services this summer and fall.  Iusacell has selected nWeb v5.0 for BREW and 3 Italy, of the Hutchison Whampoa Group, has selected nWeb v5.0 for Java for summer deployments.

“Our six year experience with Internet content optimization for mobile, results in maximum scalability and lowest total cost-of-ownership for the operator. We continue to raise the bar in mobile user experience and adoption,” said Bruce Simpson COO at Novarra. Version 5.0 is also available as part of Novarra’s turnkey service offering, with certified handsets and hosted servers in global operations centers, enabling operators to launch Internet and portal services within weeks, across a broad portfolio of new and deployed handsets.

The flexible and powerful architecture of nWeb’s platform enables a broad Internet service offering across 2.5G and 3G networks with two primary benefits. 3G operators can deliver a service that performs equally well on all handsets, from mass-market to high-end devices. Second, nWeb architecture delivers 3G network performance with existing 2.5G networks.

nWeb platform v5.0 is comprised of the VisionTM server v5.0, nWeb Java micro-client v5.0 and nWeb BREW micro-client v4.5.  According to Simon Hunt, CTO-Clients at Novarra, “Our data shows that beyond basic content rendering, it is speed, mobile usability features, OTA security and full desktop parity, across popular handsets that are critical for consumer adoption.”

The enhancements in nWeb v5.0 platform include:

  • Improved caching and page load speeds
  • Dashboard for user customizable two-click access to popular Web functions
  • SmartSearchTM and SmartNavTM enhancements for WAP 2.0 and HTML clients
