3 Italia Launches Mobile Internet Using Novarra

“WWW” Service Includes New “All You Can Eat” Data Plans

Chicago, USA and Milan, ITALY (June 6, 2006) -  Novarra and Tre Italia, the Mobile Media Company of the Hutchison Whampoa Group, announced the launch of the new “WWW” service, using Novarra’s next-generation high performance Internet platform for mobile operators. 3 Italia’s innovative WWW service provides consumers with “unlimited” access to the full Internet for an introductory fee of nine euro/month or one euro/day in addition to a one week try-and-buy option.  The WWW service will be marketed to 3 Italia’s current subscribers, available immediately on over twenty deployed handsets and will also be bundled on new phones. Using Novarra’s nWeb platform 5.0 for Java, the WWW service delivers the richness and breadth of the Internet with usability features like Zoom, and innovative two-click access to Web-based email or search and popular Italian sites served up at industry-leading speeds of under 10 seconds.

“Launching Internet access and Mobile TV shows our commitment to bring every day applications used at home, into our customers’ mobile handsets, anytime, anywhere. Our WWW service is targeted for mass adoption, being the first to remove cumbersome limits on data traffic,” said Andrea Gualtieri, Director of Marketing Consumer of 3 Italia.  ”We selected Novarra for their product strength and operator experience with such services. Their local support, responsiveness and consistent delivery to our requirements have exceeded expectations.”

The 3 Italia WWW service is built upon Novarra’s nWeb platform 5.0 for Java. The platform includes the VisionTM Server for Web content transformation, content and network optimization, and nWeb Java micro-browsers for client-side rendering and navigation, optimized across 3 Italia’s portfolio of handsets. nWeb 5.0 is optimized for popular deployed handsets in 2006 and is also configurable for delivering performance on the feature-forward handsets of 2007.

“Integrating with 3 Italia’s existing provisioning and billing systems as well as supporting their broad portfolio of handsets was core to this launch,” said Bruce Simpson, COO of Novarra. “Our commitment is to drive consumer adoption with net adds and meaningful data revenue for operators.”
