Benefits of Mobile Content Transformation

The Novarra Vision™ server adds substantial benefit to mobile content. It is site
aware and content aware. As an example, if the content is recognized as mobile
content, then it undergoes a process designed only to correct errors, handle
device-specific variations, and add value where possible. Examples of these
changes include scaling images, optimizing payload, and detecting RSS feeds.

Legacy mobile content can include WAP sites, PDA sites, .mobi sites or downloads like
wallpapers, ringtones and games.  However, initiatives like dotMobi and the
W3C Mobile Web Best Practices Working Group are encouraging the development
of new, richer sites designed for the advanced capabilities of today’s handsets.
The most advanced of these sites are beginning to use JavaScript and Ajax.

Pages are recognized as mobile content if ANY one of the following conditions are met:

1. The page includes an XHTML-mobile or XHTML-basic DTD:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//OMA//DTD XHTML Mobile 1.2//EN"

· <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML Basic 1.0//EN"

2. The response reports one of the following content (MIME) types:

3. The response contains the following tag:
