Vision™ Mobile Web Platform
The Vision Mobile Web platform is a carrier-grade content transformation server (CTS) delivering an industry- leading mobile web experience by combining the benefits of content adaptation, device adaptation, acceleration, and optimization in a single platform. Full support is provided for the breadth of content including legacy WAP, advanced WAP 2.0, dotMobi, web, Web 2.0, as well as the evolving rich multimedia web.
The Vision CTS is the industry’s only server platform with dynamic support for industry browsers as well as Novarra’s high performance HTML micro-clients (Java, BREW and C++) which boost web usability and speed across all handset categories.
With open-browser support, the Vision CTS interworks with the breadth of
industry WAP and HTML browsers to deliver an optimized web experience to any new or deployed mobile handset. By adding the Vision CTS in the network or at the content provider, the handsets are immediately internet enabled without requiring the consumer to download any handset software. Different device manufacturers can deploy any mobile browser of their choice across different networks without worrying about network and content compatibility. The Vision CTS provides the most advanced commercial support and optimization for new and already-deployed handsets with browsers from Novarra, Openwave, Teleca, Nokia, Motorola, Access, Opera, etc.
With nweb microclient support, the Vision CTS interworks with the breadth of nweb microclients across Java, BREW, RIM, Palm, Windows Mobile devices to deliver an optimized web experience to any new or deployed mobile handset. By adding the Vision CTS in the network and the nweb microclient on the handset the most advanced speed and mobile user experience achievable can be guaranteed across every phone. The nweb microclients and browsers provide advanced capabilities and innovations some of which are implemented in the Safari browser on devices like the iPhone and other high-tier devices like the Nokia N95.
The future-proof architecture allows for server-based updates minimizing the need to modify or recall handset software. Vision easily scales to millions of users supporting thousands of handsets with flexible, turnkey and customizable deployment options. An open standards-based solution, it seamlessly interoperates with current operator infrastructure and handsets while extending network and portal services.
Network Acceleration & Optimization
Beyond traditional protocol level TCP optimization and compression, Vision Network Acceleration and Optimization minimizes bandwidth requirements and latency with a variety of data reduction and content acceleration techniques which can be global rules-driven and/or profile-based. Options include distributed content processing, intelligent caching, smart content adaptation and filtering, lossy image compression and scaling can be user- or operator-defined.
Content Control (Filtering & Access Control)
In order to support responsible access to Web content, the Content Control module allows operators to establish white and black lists that automatically allow, disallow or redirect requests based upon global rules and device or user profiles. The Content Control component includes its own list, or integrates with external systems for content white/black lists and user profile management.
Device Optimization and Management
The User and Device Profile Management module utilizes external registered user databases and pre-defined device profiles to provide the highest usability through optimal content presentation for the specific user, device and page viewed. Advanced algorithms and heuristics are created and continually updated to support the portfolio of new and deployed handsets and browsers across operators in Europe, America and Asia.
Management Interface (OAM&P)
The Novarra OAM&P Server offers carrier-class automatic fault recovery and management. It includes a web-based GUI management console and integrates with leading systems management platforms. Traps and alarms based upon configurable thresholds and event triggers measure and support SLA-based metrics for system uptime. Billing and report data feeds are available through the system along with a series of useful pre-determined and customizable usage reports.
